GMLC scholarship deadline is May 17

The GMLC Scholarship for Higher Education offers scholarship awards through its General Scholarship Fund, the Anne Marie Pawelke Scholarship Fund, and the Nancy Fink Endowment Scholarship Fund. Three scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded once again this year to GED/HSED graduates who plan to attend a program of study at a postsecondary institution in either the fall or spring semester of the 2006/2007 school year.

Eligible applicants must have received a Wisconsin GED or HSED between May 12, 2005 and May 17, 2006. Applicants are required to obtain two letters of recommendation, provide proof of GED completion, submit a 300-word typed essay and complete a background questionnaire. Finalists may also be subject to an oral interview.

Upon completion of their GED/HSED, graduates receive letters regarding the scholarships through MATC’s Testing Center. Instructors should encourage their students to begin the application process early. All scholarship applications must be postmarked by May 17, 2006.

Scholarship applications are available online at www.gmlcwi.org. Applications are also available at MATC’s Scholarship Clearing House, Room S223, MATC Student Center. For more information, contact Susan Nemetz at (414) 297-6817.
